Cloud management is the process of maintaining oversight and administrative control of cloud computing products and services, whether deployed in public, private, or hybrid cloud environments. The practice of cloud management combines different software products and technologies together to provide a cohesive management strategy and process. IT organizations are increasingly choosing to reduce their up-front investments in IT infrastructure by deploying their applications into cloud environments. These environments offer on-demand availability of data storage and computing power that organizations need to handle high volumes of data and fluctuating or growing demand for application access and services. Today, there are three common deployment models for cloud computing services:

  • Private Cloud – Private cloud infrastructure is operated solely for a single organization. It can be managed internally or by a third party. Private cloud systems can provide flexible storage capacity and computing power for different areas of business, but they lack the element of hands-off management that makes cloud computing an attractive economic model for leveraging IT infrastructure.

Public Cloud – Public cloud services are delivered over a network that is open for public use. In this model, the IT infrastructure is owned by a private company (Amazon Web Services, Google, Microsoft or Oracle are popular providers) and members of the public can purchase or lease data storage or computing capacity as needed.

Hybrid Cloud – Hybrid cloud environments are comprised of a combination of public and private cloud services from different providers. Organizations may want to keep some data on private cloud servers for privacy and security reasons, while leveraging public cloud applications at a lower price point for less sensitive information. When these public and private environments are interconnected, the result is a hybrid cloud environment.

As IT organizations increasingly buy into the infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) business model and deploy more applications into the cloud, there is an increased need for structured cloud management processes that enable organizations to monitor their cloud-based applications for compliance and security, facilitate workflow automation and drive timely decision-making and cost savings.

Cloud migrations are not just a quick lift-shift your current infrastructure to the Cloud, it needs to follow a certain set of processes to achieve the successful migration to any cloud. We at VTechnocrats Our experts have helped companies to successfully migrate their infrastructure to Cloud without any disruption and they make sure it is fast, cost-optimized, and also they are efficient in setting up automation processes to take full advantage of the Cloud.

If you’re already having any app running on managed data centers or on private servers, Migration is the first step to be eligible to take advantage of the cloud. As migration process, we define your cloud journey, plan steps accordingly and execute efficiently.

Your business-critical applications and databases may need re-architecting, re-platforming or operational support. Or you may be working with difficult data and analytics use cases, with huge data volumes, several data pipelines, or complex environments. Regardless of your pain-point to migrating to the cloud, our wide range of cloud expertise means you have access to support before, during and after the migration.

Cloud computing is the delivery of hosted services, including software, hardware, and storage, over the Internet. The benefits of rapid deployment, flexibility, low up-front costs, and scalability, have made cloud computing virtually universal among organizations of all sizes, often as part of a hybrid/multi-cloud infrastructure architecture. Cloud security refers to the technologies, policies, controls, and services that protect cloud data, applications, and infrastructure from threats. Cloud security is a responsibility that is shared between the cloud provider and the customer. There are basically three categories of responsibilities in the Shared Responsibility Model: responsibilities that are always the provider’s, responsibilities that are always the customer’s, and responsibilities that vary depending on the service model: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), or Software as a Service (SaaS), such as cloud email.

The security responsibilities that are always the provider’s are related to the safeguarding of the infrastructure itself, as well as access to, patching, and configuration of the physical hosts and the physical network on which the compute instances run and the storage and other resources reside.

The security responsibilities that are always the customer’s include managing users and their access privileges (identity and access management), the safeguarding of cloud accounts from unauthorized access, the encryption and protection of cloud-based data assets, and managing its security posture (compliance).

The Top 7 Advanced Cloud Security Challenges

Because the public cloud does not have clear perimeters, it presents a fundamentally different security reality. This becomes even more challenging when adopting modern cloud approaches such as automated Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) methods, distributed serverless architectures, and ephemeral assets like Functions as a Service and containers.

Some of the advanced cloud-native security challenges and the multiple layers of risk faced by today’s cloud-oriented organizations include:

  • Increased Attack Surface
  • Lack of Visibility and Tracking
  • Ever-Changing Workloads
  • DevOps, DevSecOps and Automation
  • Granular Privilege and Key Management
  • Complex Environments
  • Cloud Compliance and Governance
